The NHCAA AFHI Prep Course is a one-day intensive program designed to highlight key content areas on the newly reformatted AFHI Examination. Experienced faculty teach about the key areas addressed in the AFHI exam enabling you to feel better prepared for the Accredited Health Care Fraud Investigator (AFHI) Exam. Sessions focus on coding and medical terminology, health care fraud federal and state regulations, and health insurance post-health care reform. Faculty also provide training on the key investigative skills.

Boot Camp for the Health Care Fraud Investigator

NHCAA's Boot Camp is a three-day training program designed to help your newest team members acquire an understanding of the core competencies necessary to combat health care fraud. It is a unique opportunity to invest in building your team's skills. Participants will return to their team with a thorough understanding of fraud in the health care system and the applicable laws for investigations. In addition, they will be able to explain common health care fraud schemes, implement basic investigative strategies to enhance fraud detection and investigation, evaluate cases for merit, detect potential red flags in medical and billing records, and identify appropriate resources to assist in fraud detection and investigation.

Enhancing Skills & Maximizing Investigative Strategy

This event is comprised of three, one-day, focused programs that hone skills of investigators through understanding the components of complex investigations, examining critical data for financial exposure to new fraud trends (or twists on old ones), and ways to refine critical investigative skills.
Programs
Managing Complex Investigations
This program will delve into the skills needed to investigate complex cases like telemarketing and enrollment schemes. The training will focus on case management skills, internal collaboration, external collaboration with law enforcement, and team development in addition to breaking down best practices for investigating these schemes.
Examining Schemes in Health Care Fraud
This program will focus on schemes, both new and twists on old favorites, that are coming down the pike. Faculty will focus on how to find these schemes and limit exposure through proactive measures.
Advancing your Investigative Skills
Driven by case study examples and group discussion, this program will help investigators or analysts take leading roles in complex investigations. Some of the topics faculty will focus on are telephone interviewing, negotiation techniques, and conflict resolution.
