About the AHFI Program

The Gold Standard of Professionalism in
Health Care Fraud Investigation

Established in 2002, "Accredited Health Care Fraud Investigator" is a unique professional designation granted by the National Health Care Anti-Fraud Association to individuals who meet certain qualifications related to professional experience, specialized training, formal education and demonstrated knowledge in the detection, investigation and/or prosecution of health care fraud.

The AHFI designation is available to qualified individuals who are NHCAA Individual Members or employees of NHCAA Member Organization, Affiliate Member, or Premier and Supporting Member or employees of an NHCAA Law Enforcement Liaison, or other federal, state or local law enforcement agency.

Did you know that AHIP’s Center for Insurance Education’s anti-fraud courses apply toward meeting AHFI requirements? Please visit The Center for more information.

Here are some comments from Accredited Health Care Fraud Investigators around the country about their AHFI designation:

"I wanted to pass along that I was told that a determining factor in the offer I was provided...was due to my passing the exam for the NHCAA AHFI. I didn't realize it would hold so much clout when it came to other job opportunities."

"Just wanted to mention that in one provider fraud case I testified in, when I was being prepped by the AUSA the night before, I mentioned my credentials and explained what they meant. The following day when I was called to testify, the AUSA asked my name and what the credentials behind my name meant, how you go about getting accredited and by whom. I'm sure they pulled this out to make the jury aware that there are accredited health care fraud investigators and...our testimony is credible."

"Just wanted to let you know that because of passing the AHFI exam, I was recognized by the____Insurance Department by being awarded the Employee of the Quarter..."
