Strengthening Your Data Analytics Strategies & Techniques

This new two-day program held August 4 – 5 in Denver, Colorado, is geared towards experienced analysts. Facilitators will combine lecture, facilitated group discussion, and hands-on programming. By walking through case examples, participants will practice data analysis strategies and techniques to uncover leads and fraud schemes. In addition, they will better understand how data can be used through all phases of an investigation. Faculty will share their best practices to maximize fraud, waste, and abuse analytics, organize and present data, and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders.

Participants will need to bring their own laptop for hands-on work. Program is limited to 75 participants.

This is the ideal program to enhance the skills of middle managers and investigators on the rise. Investigative skills discussed in this program include: managing complex investigations involving multiple internal departments, conducting risk assessments, analyzing negotiation techniques, and interpreting data.

Interactive Learning

This program uses lecture, discussion, and hands-on exercises to examine data analytical models and platforms so that data analysts can take full advantage of all that data can reveal when fighting health care fraud.

The session will provide an extensive review of different platforms as well as break down modeling concepts and strategies for trend and scheme analysis.

Sharpen your skills and learn practical lessons for your caseload. Program is limited to 75 participants.

Hands-on Facilitation

Facilitators will use deidentified data to demonstrate analysis techniques and examine each step. Explore ways to manipulate data to find red flags.

Each participant will need to bring a laptop with files downloaded in the week prior to the program.

Case Discussion Roundtable Meetings

Case Discussion Roundtable Meetings are small group discussions where private insurer members experience the value of collaboration. Public and law enforcement partners share case information and discuss schemes, trends, and fraud patterns.

Eligible Attendees are required to participate. Participants must be an employee of a NHCAA Member Organization, Law Enforcement Liaison, or Affiliate Member to attend.



The NHCAA Institute is registered with the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) as a sponsor of continuing professional education on the National Registry of CPE Sponsors. State boards of accountancy have final authority on the acceptance of individual courses for CPE credit. Target Audience: This program is most appropriate for mid to senior-level analysts, investigators, consultants, and law enforcement agents who have worked in the health care anti-fraud industry for a minimum of three years.

Level: As a level II, or intermediate program, some investigative / health care / coding expertise is assumed. Training content is focused on the detection and investigative processes, using case examples to highlight strategy and techniques.

Pre-requisites: A minimum of three years of experience in the health care anti-fraud industry or attendance at the Boot Camp Program.

NHCAA accepts registrations after this date; however, NHCAA may not be able to include your contact information in the participant roster or have a certificate of completion on-site for you.

All cancellations (regardless of date) will be assessed with at $100.00 administrative fee.

  • All written notice of cancellations and substitutions should be sent via email to
  • Before cut-off date - To cancel and obtain a full refund (minus an administrative fee) or to request a substitution, you must provide written notice to The NHCAA Institute - NETS.
  • After cut-off date - If you cancel in writing after the cut-off date, no refund will be provided but credit for future training is available. All substitution requests received after the cut-off date will be charged a $100.00 administrative fee.
